At the end of September 2025 Sabre announced that it has developed a set of agentic solutions for travel distribution based on the Model Context Protocol. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has announced multiple initiatives to incorporate travel booking within its platform - working with Expedia among others. Rival AI company Perplexity is also working with Expedia. In London in September, the T2RL Engage conference was awash with talk about the approach of agentic AI. Something is definitely coming, but it is not yet clear what that is or how it will impact and interact with the other big changes in airline distribution that are already in progress.
