For a preview of the American Airlines management team of tomorrow, look at the team at US Airways today.

AA CEO-elect Doug Parker, currently chairman and CEO of US Airways, relied heavily on his current roster of top executives as he put together the management team that will run American Airlines after its planned merger with US Airways.

Five of the eight subordinates named were from US Airways, with three from American.

Here are Parker’s top people, as described in Monday morning’s announcement:

• Scott Kirby, 45, President: responsibilities include planning, marketing, sales, alliances, pricing/yield management and operations. He currently president of US Airways.

• Elise Eberwein, 48, Executive Vice President, People and Communications: responsible for human resources, media relations, internal communications, social media and public affairs. She holds the matching titles at US Airways.

• Beverly Goulet, 58, Chief Integration Officer: will lead the complex integration process of merging American Airlines and US Airways into one airline. Goulet is chief restructuring officer at American Airlines and is chief integration officer from that side.

• Robert Isom, 49, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of US Airways, Inc. post-close: responsible for all aspects of airline operations, including customer service, flight operations, maintenance, regional carrier management, cargo, safety and security. He’s COO at US Airways.

• Stephen Johnson, 56, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs: responsibilities include corporate and legal affairs, government and regulatory affairs, labor relations, and real estate. He holds that title at US Airways.

• Derek Kerr, 48, Chief Financial Officer: responsible for oversight of all financial areas, including financial planning and analysis, corporate finance and treasury functions, purchasing, controller and audit functions and investor relations. He’s US Airways CFO.

• Maya Leibman, 47, Chief Information Officer: responsible for all information technology systems, including systems development, infrastructure, and planning. Since late 2011, she’s been American’s CIO.

• William Ris, 65, Senior Vice President, Government Affairs: responsible for all federal and international government and regulatory affairs and public policy. That’s his current position at American Airlines.

“This announcement is another important step forward in creating the new American Airlines and opening a new chapter for its more than 100,000 team members,” Parker said. “We are combining the strengths of legacy American and US Airways and creating a collaborative industry-leading leadership team.”

The Feb. 13 merger agreement provided that Parker would have the last word on the management team post merger, although he agreed to consult with American’s current chairman, president and CEO Tom Horton. Horton will remain chairman for up to a year after the merger, at which time that job becomes Parker’s.

“As we bring the restructuring to a close, the new American is strong, renewed and positioned for a successful merger. I am extremely grateful for the work and dedication of American’s senior leaders who helped bring about the most successful airline restructuring in history,” Horton said.

“Through their commitment to our company they have helped build an airline that delivers on our promise to our customers and to all the communities American serves. American’s leaders will continue to work very closely with their counterparts throughout the merger planning to build upon the momentum everyone has worked so hard to create,” Horton said.
